How do I make changes to the settings file (ApplicationSettings.properties)?

Many configuration changes can be made by editing the application settings file, ApplicationSettings.properties.

Please note that you should only change this file under instruction, either as a result of advice from the Asset Bank Support Team or from details found on-line at www.assetbank.co.uk

Issues that arise due to changes made that do not follow this rationale are not covered by the Support Contract. Effort spent to resolve such issues will be chargeable at our standard rates.

The file is located on the following path on your server:

[tomcat]/webapps/asset-bank/WEB-INF/classes/ApplicationSettings.properties, where [tomcat] is the directory where Tomcat is installed.

  • On Windows, this is usually C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat X
  • On Linux, this could be /var/lib/tomcatX, /usr/share/tomcatX,
  • On OSX, if you installed via MacPorts, it will be /opt/local/share/java/tomcatX

[Where X is the Tomcat version number].

This file is well documented - please read the comments in order to understand the settings.

You will need to restart Tomcat for any changes to the settings file to take effect.
