Ecommerce
When ecommerce is enabled then by default the application will allow a single price per asset and users will be billed the individual prices for any assets that purchase through there basket.
For a more complex pricing model, you can enable price bands on your ecommerce Asset Bank by adding at least one price band to the Admin > Payment > Price Bands section...
Price Bands
This allows you to set prices for all assets based on the size of the download requested by the user. The larger the file, then the more you can charge. Price bands make it easy to apply pricing across your Asset Bank and is useful when you only want to differentiate prices based on the quality of the image requested (i.e. where pricing is standard across all the assets).
When setting a price band you will be asked to enter the following:
Asset Type: Which types of files should this purchase option show for? File, image, audio or video. You may want to have one price for videos for example, that are different from image files.
Name: What will be the display name for this purchase type? E.g. "1. Small (500 x 500)"
Description: An internal note field, only visible on this Price Band Admin Area
Base price: The price associated with this price band – VAT will be added if set up in the Tax area.
Advanced download: Whether or not to allow the advanced download tab for this purchase type. Note, this allows the user to re-size the asset, crop, change the dpi, etc. So this should only be used for the highest resolution (most expensive) download option – as allowing it on lower resolution options would effectively enable the user to get a higher quality version for the lower price.
Is Commercial: This is an optional item that allows you to suggest to the user that there is an option to buy off-line (e.g. by invoice). The purchase would then not go through the PSP (online payment service provider) but instead be dealt with by the system administrators.
The admin will then receive an email (if they have receives alerts ticked), notifying them that they have a commercial order to approve.
They can then visit:
"Admin > Orders > Commercial orders" and manage these payments from here.
Requires custom quote: If a price band is marked as commercial you can decide whether an admin user needs to provide a custom quote for orders. If the "Requires custom quote" option is checked any orders placed using the price band will be sent to an admin user to approve/reject or set a custom price. If you would like the user to be able to pay online immediately without admin intervention then un-tick the "Requires custom quote" option. The user will then be sent directly to the payment page and be able to download the asset after successfully making a payment.
Payment settings:
As an admin user from the Admin > Payment pages you can adjust a couple of settings that apply to asset purchases on your ecommerce Asset Bank, they are:
- Tax applies to base price - this determines whether your vat/sales tax percentage applies to standard price band purchases. The sales tax will still be applied to commerical option purchases if this is false.
- Vat/sales tax percentage - the percentage tax to apply to sales (i.e. 20% for UK VAT)
